A one-day workshop on the use of radiocarbon as a carbon cycle tracer, and will primarily be of interest to those actively working on late Pleistocene carbon cycle dynamics. The workshop will focus on the current difficulties for ‘balancing’ the radiocarbon budget over the last ~40 kyr and their implications for our understanding of the radiocarbon/carbon cycles, and for our use of radiocarbon as a dating tool.

This workshop highlights advancements in boron isotope research, emphasizing analytical techniques, environmental applications like seawater pH and CO₂ reconstructions, and geochemical processes. 

Monsoon systems are a vital component of the Earth’s climate system. This workshop will explore the origin, evolution and dynamics of monsoon, specifically South Asian monsoon, through geological history, focusing on different factors driving its variability across various time scales. Insights from proxy, model, and observational data will be discussed.

Marine archaeology and sea level changes are closely linked. Rising sea levels can flood coastal areas and submerge landscapes while falling sea level can expose previously submerged sites. Marine artefacts (both biological and geochemical signatures) serve as valuable indicators of the past sea level, providing insights into coastal evolution, climate change as well as human adaptations. This workshop will include an ensemble of marine archaeologists and researchers working on sea level changes.
