Stable isotopes and related products in ocean biogeochemistry: technical developments, data resources and future applications.

Related to SCOR working group 171, we aim to bring together researchers that are working on monitoring the stable isotopic (O, H) composition of seawater and the carbon isotopic composition of dissolved inorganic carbon, synthesize such data or use it in proxy calibration or paleoclimate and modelling studies.

We aim to bring together researchers that are working on monitoring the stable isotopic composition of seawater (oxygen and hydrogen) and the carbon isotopic composition of dissolved inorganic carbon, synthesize such data or use it in proxy calibration or paleoclimate and modelling studies. This workshop is related to SCOR working group 171 (https://scor-int.org/group/towards-best-practices-for-measuring-and-archiving-stable-isotopes-in-seawater-masis/) and by hosting the workshop in conjunction with the ICP-15, we hope to attract and bring together participants from the ocean biogeochemistry communities, especially from the Asian and Pacific regions, and from the global paleoceanographic community. The participants are expected to present and/or discuss research results related to ocean monitoring in the present or the past, e.g., biogeochemical cycles and anthropogenic carbon perturbation in the oceanic signature, or how such isotopic data could be used in related studies, e.g., in research topics on microfossils, corals or giant clams or the hydrological cycle, continental runoff, and glacial melting. The workshop will be held in hybrid format, although the majority of participants should attend in person.

Cost: free
